Those who were able to attend have wonderful memories of Mayberry Days 2021. It was the 32ne Mayberry Days and marked the end of the 60th Anniversary year of The Andy Griffith Show. Attendance for 2021 was a welcome return to normalcy and folks really seemed to have a great time. This episode we step through the Qualifying Round questions and answers of the 2021 World Championship of Mayberry Trivia.
The qualifying round is just to qualify for the Finals of Mayberry trivia. If you qualify, you end up facing past Mayberry Days Trivia champions and other qualifiers from this round and the “youth” trivia champion.

I have so much to be thankful for this year and so does the Mayberry community as a whole. While we lost the amazing Betty Lynn very recently, we still have her wonderful memory with us and can see her wonderful smile on TV everyday. In 2021 we had the Mayberry Effect documentary, the Mayberry Man movie, The Boys book, Tied up in Knotts book and so much more that really made this a year to remember in Mayberry.
Friends have been made because of a television show that’s more than 60 years old. Isn’t that amazing? A show from the 1960’s is still bringing people together to form lasting friendships in 2021. We should certainly be thankful for that.

We have some more feedback from listeners like you and one of them inspired the title of this episode. There was a “Johnny Paul” in the episode of The Andy Griffith Show, “Man in a Hurry“, who is with Opie following the church service trading Opie a penny that was run over by a train. That actor is not, or appears not to be, the same actor who played Johnny Paul Jason in later episodes of the show. Who was he?
Also, is it possible that Duncan Phyfe actually is related to Barney Fife because somebody had to spell it right eventually? Chris raises that question and it’s one to ponder.

In episode 655 of Two Chairs No Waiting we celebrated the life of Betty “Thelma Lou” Lynn who we lost on Saturday October 16, 2021. During that episode I asked to hear your memories of Betty and several of you responded.
The memories of Betty her impact on the lives of those around her, including fans of The Andy Griffith Show, are strong enough that folks took time out of their day to either record a voice mail or send in written thoughts. I believe that these memories will continue to have an impact on us all and I know you’re going to enjoy hearing from fellow fans.

Saturday October 11, 2008 was date the very first episode of the Two Chairs No Waiting was published on the internet. Since that date I, along with guest reporters like Randy Turner, have created 11 days, 3 hours, 12 minutes, and 15 seconds of Two Chairs No Waiting content for Mayberry fans to enjoy. By the way, those are 24 hour days so it’s enough to listen to for week and four days before you have to start over.
We’re going to hear from some of you by voice mail this week and one of those mentions that he recently started listening to the podcast from the beginning and he’s up to the 400’s. Whew….
We’ll also talk about the appearance by Rik Roberts and myself this past weekend on Governor Mike Huckabee’s show on TBN. We were there to spread the work about the Mayberry Man movie and I think we did pretty well. A link to the official YouTube video of our segment will be in the show notes so if you missed it, you can still check it out.
We’ll play a little Mayberry trivia and then head over to hear from Randy.

Mayberry Days 2021 has come and gone but the memories made are still with me.
I’m going to review some of the events that happened during Mayberry Days in an attempt to let you know what happens during the Mayberry Days weekend in Mt. Airy, NC. The video version of the show has photos of the things I’m talking about but I don’t think you’ll feel left out if you just listen to the audio version.
I always wonder about doing these reviews/reports on Mayberry Days but I had more than one person tell me during Mayberry Days that they listened to the podcast to figure out which events they wanted to be sure not to miss. They had gone back to old episodes to do research on events. I hope I didn’t lead anyone astray.
We have a few trivia questions to play and then on to what I’m sure you’re waiting for.
