Two Chairs No Waiting
Mayberry fans know that 411 Elm Street is the addresses given for where Barney Fife lives. Well, in this episode we’ll have some fun and learn some history of these here United States in the process.
The shooting of President John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963 in Dallas, Texas changed America’s innocence. People stopped what they were doing and mourned for days over the news of the shooting.
Popular TV programs like “The Andy Griffith Show” stopped filming for days.
“My Fair Ernest T. Bass” was the episode being filmed the week President Kennedy was assassinated. What an amazing tribute to the actors that the episode shows no signs of sadness from that event.
How can I tie Mayberry to this historical event? You’ll have to listen to the podcast to find out.

Two Chairs No Waiting
This is an interview I did with Jean “Hello Doll” Carson back on 26 June 1998 in Kingsport, TN.
Jean passed away on November 2, 2005 and she is greatly missed but continues to bring smiles to the faces of The Andy Griffith Show fans as Daphne (the “Fun Girl”) and convict Naomi Connors.
Jean’s love for the fans was sincere and that love was returned to her by all that had the chance to meet her. I know you’ll enjoy the interview and the memories.

Two Chairs No Waiting
We’ve had wonderful segments of Two Chairs No Waiting during the Rodney Dillard interview and this final segment is no exception.
Our discussion turns more to The Andy Griffith Show and how being on the show has impacted The Dillards over the years. The feeling of “family” that The Dillards have when performing for audiences because the fans “know” them from The Andy Griffith Show.
Rodney also talks about being on the set between shots and how The Andy Griffith Show was different than other shows on which they appeared.

Two Chairs No Waiting
Welcome back to Two Chairs No Waiting! We’re continuing our interview with Rodney Dillard and learn about a few appearances that he and Doug have made on movies and TV that most fans may not know about.
Rodney tells us about things he’s been working on recently including his Mayberry Values in Todays World presentations across the country. This is a ministry that gives practical applications to what it means to be a Christian.
The discussion goes a good bit into this topic so take this as fair warning for anyone offended by frank discussion of walking through life as a Christian. I don’t believe that most listeners need that heads up but I felt like I should give one. I’d love to hear from you about this topic and have a discussion however you feel.

Two Chairs No Waiting
Rodney Dillard, the guitar playing Darling boy, joins us to talk about The Dillards, the Darling boys and much more. In part one we speak about how The Dillards got their start in the music business. In future episodes Rodney will talk about being on The Andy Griffith Show and many other topics.
Because of my association with The Andy Griffith Show, I have seen The Dillards perform many times and I’ve heard them take and answer many questions from audiences. I heard things in this interview I’d never heard before and it was a great pleasure being able to dive into the career of this influential bluegrass band.
How influential you might ask. The Dillards were inducted into the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame on October 1, 2009 and have directly or indirectly influenced artists such as The Eagles, The Byrds, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Dan Fogelberg, Linda Ronstadt, Elton John, Ricky Skaggs, and several other well known artist.

Two Chairs No Waiting
This episode marks the end of the first year of Two Chairs No Waiting and what better way to finish my first year than to complete our interview with Neal Brower.
In part three of the interview with Neal Brower as our guest, we move the discussion toward his book “Mayberry 101: Behind the Scenes of a TV Classic.” That book is labled Volume 1 so Neal answers the question about, where’s volume two? He also tells us how he came to pen Mayberry 101 in the first place.
We also hear about his Professor Bower’s Lecture series he does each year at Mayberry Days in Mt. Airy, NC. Neal shares some special memories and many things you may never have heard.
Thank you again to Neal Brower for taking the time to visit with us all here at Two Chairs No Waiting.
