What a wonderful, heart felt treat we have in store for this episode. Mayberry fan Jimmy Phillips recently wrote a wonderful post on Facebook called, “Mayberry, Why Do We Love It?” As soon as I had read Jimmy’s wonderful words, I contacted him to ask if I could use those words on Two Chairs. In the spirit of Mayberry, Jimmy quickly replied “You’re more than welcome to use it.”
Friends, what you’re about to hear will bring wonderful thoughts and memories to mind. Jimmy has a right to be mighty proud of himself.
Jimmy is a member of a Facebook group called “Mayberry After Midnight” and it’s a closed group but if you ask to join…we’ll let you in. No blackballs from the folks over there.
We also have a few voice mail messages to listen to and enjoy.

It is Memorial Day 2012 here in the US. I wanted to take time out to make sure we, here in Mayberry, say thank you to all those who serve, have served, and on this day especially those that gave their lives protecting my freedom.
I hope you enjoy hearing from Gomer Pyle as he sings for us.
I know you’re going to enjoy hearing Red Skelton’s version of the Pledge of Allegiance. He certainly makes it clear what this country means to us all and what those that gave their lives were protecting.
Thank you, the service men and women of the United States, for what you did for us. God bless you.

Visit the Two Chairs No Waiting store and share your love for the show.
Jack Dodson is best remembered for is role of Howard Sprague on the Andy Griffith Show but he was more than that. He liked camping, was a fan of boxing, Spencer Tracy movies, and he attended Carnegie Tech (Carnegie Mellon University as it’s known now).
I got a wonderful surprise back in 2006 when Scott Helmandollar wrote to me and shared a few photos his father had taken back in the mid-1950’s.
Let’s visit our Mayberry friends and learn more about Jack Dodson and Howard Sprague.

Let’s kick off the fourth year of podcasting here at Two Chairs No Waiting with a little look back to the way things were at the beginning. Episode #1 was released on October 11, 2008 so the release date of #157 is exactly 3 years, and 156 episodes later.
Things have changed a little over the years (like the audio quality and having a video version of the show) but I hope the Mayberry spirit continues to flow though from me to you.
I have enjoyed bringing you a little under 41 hours (40.8 hours) of Two Chairs No Waiting over the past 3 years. Thank you to all of you for listening and supporting the show.
The Andy Griffith Show and Mayberry are alive and doing well. Thank you all for keeping the Mayberry spirit alive.

On this episode of Two Chairs No Waiting, we again celebrate the life of Don Knotts to mark the 5th anniversary of his passing on February 24, 2006.
Mr. Knotts fans join me in remembering the life of this man who has brought so much joy into our lives. We hear from Al Gandolfi, the subject of last weeks show, about his favorite memory of receiving an autograph.
Ken Anderson, Brian Humphrey, Jelsic Stern, and Clyde Hughes also took time to call in with their thoughts about Don Knotts.
He may be gone but he will not be forgotten.

Ken Anderson – This website is about Ken’s love for that famous TV town Mayberry, North Carolina. It is also about his book Mayberry Reflections the Early Years.
A Tribute to Mayberry Brings Good Ole Days to Cocoa – Cocoa Florida’s “Good Ole Days – A Tribute to Mayberry” which took place April 8 and 9, 2005, surprised everyone by being a smashing success. (Al Gandolfi is on the left of the photo on a knee in front of Goober, Floyd, and Opie.)

We’re heading back into the archives of The Andy Griffith Show Rerun Watchers Club (TAGSRWC) to read about Mayberry folks from the mountains around town. The story is from “The Bullet,” the official newsletter of TAGSRWC, volume 1 issue 2 (March 18, 1983). This is a fun trip back down memory lane to the very early days of TAGSRWC.
We also hear from a caller who lets us know that Richard “Doc” Ferrara (one of the subjects of our last episode – #121) was mentioned on The Andy Griffith show episode “Ernest T. Bass Joins the Army.”

Final segments of our visit with Andy Griffith at Mayberry Days 2004 and we have a special treat. Andy sings the Mayberry Union High fight song! What a wonderful way to end this series of podcast devoted to the statue presentation to the city of Mt. Airy, NC.
We also have a wonderful call from a listener telling us about meeting Andy Griffith and what a wonderful experience it was.
Thank you, again, Doug Rogers for providing us with this outstanding audio of Andy’s comments.
