Final segments of our visit with Andy Griffith at Mayberry Days 2004 and we have a special treat. Andy sings the Mayberry Union High fight song! What a wonderful way to end this series of podcast devoted to the statue presentation to the city of Mt. Airy, NC.
We also have a wonderful call from a listener telling us about meeting Andy Griffith and what a wonderful experience it was.
Thank you, again, Doug Rogers for providing us with this outstanding audio of Andy’s comments.

Allan, hearing Andy belt out the Mayberry Union High song was a treat! And my thanks to Trey for sharing his story of meeting Andy. Very enjoyable podcast, as usual!
I really enjoyed Andy’s speech. I am confused why here he states that the show was based on Mount Airy, but I have heard other interviews where he said “those people like to think it was, but it wasn’t.” If anyone can clarify this I would appreciate it.
Wonderful…I can’t believe I have been a fan of TAGs since watching the first showings as a kid and yet I missed so many opportunities to meet Andy himself as well as Don Knotts….but…..thanks to Doug Rogers and Allan Newsome I have been able to fill in some of the gaps by listening to recordings and podcast like this one. Enjoyed this so much. Thanks! It was neat to here of one fans personal meeting with Andy.
