Merry Christmas!  It is a great time of year to be spending time with friends and family.  That’s what I think of you as, friends and family, so I’m thankful to have this chance to visit with you in Mayberry.

The Andy Griffith Show only has one “Christmas” episode and I know fans enjoy watching it year after year.  Because of that, I figure that listeners to this podcast enjoy hearing some of the same things each Christmas as well.  It’s a tradition if you do it more than twice so we’ll continue the traditions we’ve started here at Two Chairs No Waiting.

We get to hear Ben Sandifer’s wonderful Mayberry Christmas poem.

We take a wonderful return trip down memory lane with Charlie Monk called “Andy & Opie Christmas.”
Some “Fred Upstairs” want’a be sings “Barney the Mayberry Deputy.”  And we close out the show with Miss Ellie singing “Away in a Manger.”

God bless you and may the year to come be a wonderful blessing to you and yours.

It’s getting close to that time of the year when folks get new things they can use to listen to podcasts and be part of the online Mayberry world.  Let’s talk a bit about some of the ways Mayberry fans can use their “elecronil marvels” to have even more Mayberry spirit in their lives.

We’ll focus a bit on the “Who’s Been Messin’ Up the Bulletin Board?” (WBMUTBB) chapter of The Andy Griffith Show Rerun Watchers Club because, well, I’ve been a part of it for more than 21 years and it’s on my mind so very often.  It’s a great way to share your love of Mayberry throughout the week.

iMayberryCommunity.com is another way to connect with fans of The Andy Griffith Show in a “social media” type way that you’re sure to love.  Then there are the MANY other Mayberry fans that you can connect with in and I’ll mention a few of them as we go along.

So sit back and enjoy a visit to some of the Mayberry sites around the web.

Folks seemed to have enjoyed our last few episodes and our visits with the folks that live in, or have visited, the town that inspired “Mayberry” of The Andy Griffith Show.  I’m glad that’s the case because this episode we continue our visit with Alma Venable from the Mayberry Motor Inn in Mount Airy, NC.

Kenneth “Otis” Junkin joins me in the back room of the Mayberry Motor Inn as we hear more from Alma about Andy’s mother and many other things that provide a background that fans will enjoy.   My thanks to Alma for spending so much time with us and giving us a glimpse into the real “Mayberry” of Andy’s home town.

The last few episodes we’ve been talking to folks who live in Andy Griffith’s home town of Mt. Airy, NC.  Now, Mt. Airy isn’t Mayberry but it’s about as close as you can get.  That said, I thought it would be fun to hear from a fellow fan of The Andy Griffith Show and the adventure of his first visit to “Mayberry.”

If you’ve never been to Mt. Airy, don’t over expect.  The town doesn’t look exactly like the town of Mayberry but there is a Floyd’s barbershop and there are many other Mayberry things to see that will make the trip worth your visit.
