This is the third episode of Two Chairs to focus on the 1998 Mayberry gathering in Kingsport, TN. I hope you haven’t missed on but if you have there’s still time to go back and check them out by using the link in the notes below.

The event was called “I Remember Mayberry” and in this episode we hear from Bernard Fox (Malcolm Merriweather). Bernard performs several routines that are from his collection of vaudeville acts he had collected over the years.

I want to once again encourage you to watch the video version of this episode because you’ll be able to see Bernard rather thank hear him, only. While you’re watching, be sure to like and subscribe to my YouTube channel.

David “The Mayberry Deputy” Browning was the emcee for the evening and he’ll be introducing Mr. Fox.

We’ll try our hand a few trivia questions between performances.

This week’s installment of This Week in Mayberry History by Randy Turner featuring “Bruce Bilson” part 1.

This is part two of the two part interview with Bernard Fox, Mayberry’s Malcolm Merriweather. The interview was recorded in 1998 at the 6th Annual Mayberry Squad Car Rendezvous held just outside of the town of Bradford, OH.

He was only in three episodes of The Andy Griffith Show but “Malcolm” is a well remembered visitor to Mayberry. The role that most people outside of Mayberry likely remember best would be as Dr. Bombay, the warlock doctor on Bewitched. These are but two of the MANY roles played by this amazing actor.

The interview is performed by Mayberry, and pop culture, fan Dennis Hasty and was recorded live by my wonderful wife Jan.

Bonus: This week’s installment of This Week in Mayberry History by Randy Turner featuring “Les Tremayne.”

This is the first of a two part series featuring an interview with Bernard Fox, Mayberry’s very own bicycle riding “Englishster” Malcolm Merriweather. This interview was recorded 1998 at the 6th Annual Mayberry Squad Car Rendezvous held in the middle of a corn field near the town of Bradford, OH.

Though he was only in three episodes of The Andy Griffith Show, “Malcolm” is one of the most memorable visitors to Mayberry. Of course, I have to admit that for a long time Malcolm wasn’t the first role I thought of when Bernard Fox was mentioned. The role that many outside of Mayberry most likely remember him as would be as Dr. Bombay, the warlock doctor on Bewitched. Malcolm and Dr. Bombay are but two of the MANY roles played by this amazing actor.

Enjoy part 1 of this great interview by Mayberry, and pop culture, fan Dennis Hasty recorded live.

Bonus: This week’s installment of This Week in Mayberry History by Randy Turner featuring “Gene Reynolds.”

On December 14, 2016 we lost one of the great character actors and gentlemen  of all time, Bernard Fox.   I thought it would be fitting to remember Mr. Fox with an interview I did with him back on 26 June 1998 in Kingsport, TN.

As you listen, near the beginning of the interview, we are interrupted by Howard “Ernest T.” Morris.  Those you’ll here talking in the background are Maggie “Charlene Darling” Peterson, all the The Dillards (a.k.a. The Darling boy), Howard Morris, Elinor “Miss Ellie” Donahue, and Jean “the Fun Girl” Carson.

Bernard Fox was known to TAGS fans as Malcolm Merriweather but to non-Mayberry fans his best-known role was as the warlock physician  Dr. Bombay on Bewitched.

Mr. Fox was  a “fifth generation performer” and was born with the name Bernard Lawson in Port Talbot, Glamorgan, Wales. Maybe he’s distant kin to our own Floyd Lawson.  Bernard was married to his wife Jacqueline since 1961.

This interview was first published on Two Chair back on episode #19 (February 17, 2009) but I felt it fitting to revisit.
