This is a first for me. An “in studio” guest here on the podcast. Kenneth Junkin, who is a tribute artist for Otis and seen in the Mayberry Man movie is here with me to tell some stories.
Kenneth has been on the show many times but we’ve never been here at Two Chairs HQ to record. He’ll tell us stories about Don Knotts, Betty Lynn, George Lindsey, Sue Ane Langdon (nurse Mary Simpson), Ernest Borgnine, Donna Douglas and more. Kenneth has been involved with Mayberry events since the very early 1990’s and has been performing as Otis since 1995.
I hope you enjoy this conversation and walk away feeling the excitement both Kenneth and I feel when talking about The Andy Griffith Show and those connected to it through either being on or being a fan of the show. We have been so blessed in all the things we’ve been able to do so I hope you can live some of the joy along with us.

We have a mission here at Two Chairs No Waiting to do whatever we can to keep Mayberry alive but we can all thank TAGSRWC for being the driving force behind that work since 1979. Fans of The Andy Griffith Show have a lot to be proud of as does the Presiding Goober Emeritus of TAGSRWC, Jim Clark. Jim would certainly say it is the fans that have kept Mayberry going but I would said it was due to his pulling us all together.
Whatever the case may be, it’s up to all of us to keep things going, and growing, as the years continue to pass.
We have a special guest report from a roving reporter who isn’t Randy Turner or SpiritWalker. I’ll keep it a secret for now and let you learn who it is as you listen/watch the show. During our lifetimes we travel many roads and this reporter has certainly done that and he doesn’t run around with his head in the air but that doesn’t mean lightning didn’t strike.
This week’s installment of This Week in Mayberry History by Randy Turner featuring “Burt Mustin” part 3.

I was doing some cleanup around the house during the holidays and ran across a story from March 2006 about a Mayberry Variety Show that was going to occur on April 21, 2006. It was going to be connected with the induction of Jim “Gomer Pyle” Nabors into the Alabama Stage and Screen Hall of Fame to be held on April 22, 2006.
What great memories this event brought back so I wanted to share at least some of them with you.
Bonus: This week’s installment of This Week in Mayberry History by Randy Turner featuring “Frank Ferguson” part 2.
