This episode we are able to hear from four of our listeners.
Calvin called in to talk about how many touching scenes there are on The Andy Griffith Show. We all know that TAGS is funny but we often forget just how much the show pulled at our hearts with episodes like Opie the Birdman or Mr. McBeevee. The writers were amazing in that they could make us laugh one week and then tear up the next. Calvin also mentioned what he thought was a blooper in “Cousin Virgil” and we’ll clear that up
Dick tells us that all Mayberry fans should get a copy of Mayberry 101 so they can learn even more wonderful facts about why the writers of TAGS did what they did during episodes.
Gary noticed a strange and curious happening that involves Gomer’s tie and Mr. Weaver.
And lastly, we hear from Michael who shares his love of our podcast and Mayberry.
Thank all of them for calling and thank you for taking time to visit with them, and me, during this trip to Mayberry.

We have a couple of questions that were left on our voice mail from listeners just like you.
The first question is from John and is about Andy and clarifying if indeed he was an owner of The Andy Griffith Show or not. At Mayberry Days in 2004 Andy made some statements that lead John to believe that Andy wasn’t an owner. We’ll look into that and hear what Andy actually did say back in 2004.
Our second voice mail is from Gary who has some very nice observations about continuity errors during the episode “The Christmas Story.” Gary noticed the American flag and a calendar doing some interesting things.
Researching Gary’s comments, I noticed a possible connection to Reggie Smith. Reggie was the prop master for The Andy Griffith Show and was discussed in episode # 234 of Two Chairs. Are those his initials we see just under the jail cell window?

There are several times throughout the run of The Andy Griffith Show were we see continuity errors. From Barney’s badge being on his shirt in one scene and missing in the next to people missing from a bench on the street only to appear when the shot cuts to a different angle.
On this episode a caller points out the disappearing jail cell keys while another person writes in to note the Taylor’s home moving right next door to Miss Crump’s house.
Was there a continuity person? How might they have missed these errors? Let’s find out.

The fine folks over at iMayberryCommunity.com have been having some wonderful discussions and one of them really hit the spot. This week marked one year since the passing of Mayberry’s Goober, George Lindsey, so I thought it was fitting that one of the discussions going on over at the community was about Goober’s age on The Andy Griffith Show. There is some conflicting information given that I had never taken the time to piece together in my mind but the big thinkers on the forum at iMayberryCommunity did just that.
Let’s unravel the mystery of Goober’s age and enjoy some special memories along the way.

I bet most folks that watch The Andy Griffith Show have never really thought about who it was that took care of all the props that were used on the show. Well, lets think about the man who for 249 episodes kept the people of Mayberry supplied with some of the best props ever. From the cannon that Andy sold to the gun that Gomer dropped from the courthouse roof, Reggie Smith provided them all to the citizens of Mayberry.
Kenneth Junkin, our very own “Otis Campbell” tribute artist, recently told me a bit of trivia related to Reggie Smith that I’m so thankful to be able to let you hear about in this episode. Thank you Ken!

The last few episodes we’ve been talking about things that some of the greatest writers of The Andy Griffith Show took the time to share with fans and I’ve certainly been enjoying celebrating these master writers. The conversation led one of our Two Chairs No Waiting listeners, Joe Gritton, to write in and share his insightful thoughts about writing.
Long time listeners of Two Chairs may well remember Joe Gritton’s name from previous “flashback” episodes of the podcast written by him that featured lost scenes from The Andy Griffith Show with Floyd the barber and door-to-to salesman Bert Miller. There are a total of 4 episodes of Two Chairs completely credited to Joe’s writing and while Joe calls himself “The Untrained Voice,” I believe you’ll join me in saying his education is worth every penny.
Be sure to head over and listen to Joe’s “flashback” episodes and I hope you enjoy his comments in this episode.

We received a voice mail message recently about the signs on the Mayberry Courthouse doors and it caused me to do a little research that I think you’re going to enjoy hearing about. We also have some wonderful feedback from listeners that I learned from and I’m sure you’re going to enjoy.
The end of the podcast is filled with some information directly from my heart to yours. I hope you’ll stick around for the entire episode and I would love to hear back from you. Give me a call or drop me an e-mail.
