Two Chairs No Waiting began in 2008 and I’ve done three episodes over the years about Myers Lake. Myers Lake is actually located in the Franklin Canyon area of Los Angeles and is located at the purported geographical center of the city of Los Angeles.
Myers Lake is the one place that remains where fans of The Andy Griffith Show can go to walk in the footsteps of Andy and Opie. If you’re ever in the Los Angeles area, you do not want to miss the chance to visit this location. Every episode of The Andy Griffith Show began with Andy and Opie walking along this path with Opie picking up a rock and throwing it into the lake.
This video was shot in September 2021 and I recommend watching the video version of this Two Chairs episode to be able to see the sights where Mayberry history occurred.

Let’s do a quick run down of all the fun you can have during Mayberry Days 2021. I know you’re not going to be able to remember all these things but if you head over to MayberryDays.com you will find the the schedule, ticket information, special guest information and anything else you’d like to know about this amazing event.
Mayberry Days has evolved over the years to help keep the Mayberry spirit alive. With both youth and adult competitions, Mayberry trivia contests are one of the most popular traditions. Some of the questions will challenge even the sharpest trivia experts, so don’t feel bad if you don’t know most of the answers. Or if you just want to watch, that’s always fun, too.

Following the premier of Mayberry Man on September 4, 2021, I was able to stay around the town of Danville, IN and watch the movie a second time with the crew & volunteers. Just after that showing, I was invited to be on the “Mayberry Man Podcast” hosted by Anderson Howell.
Anderson is the son of Cort Howell and grandson of Dud Wash himself, Hoke Howell. They gave me permission to use my interview here on Two Chairs. I want to encourage you to go to https://YouTube.com/mayberryman to see this interview as well as others as Anderson will be talking to folks and getting their thoughts about Mayberry Man.
If I haven’t bored you with all my discussion of the “new” Mayberry movies, stick around to the end of the episode and you can see “Floyd” arrive on the red carpet.

What a week we just wrapped up. On Tuesday August 31, 2021 The Mayberry Effect film was released on streaming services for purchase. Then on Saturday September 4, 2021 the Mayberry Man movie began it’s release with a VIP Red Carpet showing for backers of the film.
We’ve been hoping to have ways to reach folks and let them know there are things still happening in the world of The Andy Griffith Show and these films go a long way toward bringing new fans into our community. It’s BIG!
I saw both films and I can say I thinks both are wonderful. They both complement one another and I encourage you to see them if you have an opportunity.

Let’s go inside Mayberry and talk about Ernest T. Bass. It was no trouble finding information about his because he’s a pestilence and a pestilence will find you.
This information is from a long out of print book called Inside Mayberry by Dan Harrison and Bill Habeeb. We’ll hear from Howard Morris and others about how the character of Ernest T. came to be a citizen of Mayberry, NC.

I was talking with a co-worker earlier today. He got me thinking that there are things I take for granted as being common knowledge that really aren’t well known. We’re going to hit a few of those things as we move through this episode to include where to find maps of Mayberry, where to watch The Andy Griffith Show 24/7, and more.
I’ve got 10 fun Mayberry trivia questions for you that I hope will make you smile.

The Mayberry Man movie is just about to be released and it’s kind of amazing to me how many fans of The Andy Griffith Show still believe the movie is some type of remake of the series. As the title of this episode states, it is not a remake. This past weekend I spent a good deal of time on different social media sites talking with fans and trying to help them understand that the movie was made for Mayberry fans by Mayberry fans.
There’s no big “Hollywood” studio behind the movie precisely to avoid the filmmaker being told what could or could not be in the movie. Mayberry Man does its best to capture the spirit of what made The Andy Griffith Show so special. It doesn’t try to be a remake but rather tries to bring that feeling back to the viewer by telling a new story with roots in Mayberry. I hope fans will give it a chance.
We’ll also hear a poem from Ronnie Felker called “Floyd’s Barbershop” that I think you’ll enjoy. Ronnie is a Barney Fife tribute artist out of South Carolina.
